Three generations of handcrafted pan dulce, fresh corn tortillas, and abuelita recipes passed down through Hilda's kitchen. Every morning, our ovens fire up before the neighborhood wakes.

Hilda opened her doors on University Avenue with a single baking sheet, a wood-fired oven she installed herself, and a conviction that San Diego deserved better pan dulce than what the chain stores were offering.
Thirty-eight years later, her grandchildren still crack the eggs at dawn. The recipes haven't changed — they don't need to. What has changed is the line that forms outside the door every Saturday morning, stretching past the landscaping supply store, waiting for the first batch of orejas to come out of the fryer.
We don't use preservatives. We don't freeze our dough. We don't cut corners that our abuelas spent a lifetime perfecting. If it's on our counter, it was made in this kitchen, in this building, by people who treat every concha like it's the last one.

Fresh batches
The crown jewel of Mexican bakery. Our shells come in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and seasonal flavors — each one topped with a sugar crust that cracks perfectly on the first bite.
Crisp outside, soft inside, rolled in cinnamon sugar while still warm from the fryer. Served with a side of thick Mexican chocolate sauce — our version is darker, bitter-sweet, and made in-house.
Hand-pressed corn tortillas, pressed between each order. They puff on the comal and taste like nothing from a package — soft, earthy, and still warm when they reach your plate.
Orejas, cuernos, cuquis, mantecadas — each one shaped by hand using the techniques Hilda learned as a girl in Guadalajara. Our selection rotates with the seasons and the holidays.
Wrapped in corn husks and steamed slow. We make them year-round — pork in red sauce, chicken in green, sweet versions for Christmas — but the holiday batches are a different level entirely.
Thick, warm atole made from scratch with masa, piloncillo, and cinnamon. Or a cup of Mexican coffee — strong, sweet, and served in a clay cup that keeps it hot longer than any mug.
"The conchas here are the only reason I wake up on weekends. My mom used to make them, and for a second, I'm eight years old again."
